A Mr. Rivera on FB reported on something we very rarely if ever hear about: Government working with Car Enthusiasts, and not against. On Nov. 20, the Baguio Midland Courier published an article stating that ‘City suspends number coding for Beetle Cars from Dec. 5 to 9‘.
This Administrative Order 155 allows VW vehicles exception from their city wide number coding scheme allowing them to go to the ‘Grand Volks Cañao 2016‘, an anticipated event by Volkswagen enthusiasts up North.
This is significant for two reasons, one which is that I’ve never heard of a similar situation where government local or national had made any concession towards motoring groups of any kind. I honestly cannot remember a similar situation in the past at any scale.
And secondly, Baguio’s local government seems to be shaping up. The last time I heard of them was when local individuals were protesting against antiquated bicycle and motorcycle laws. Needless to say this is a welcome development.
